Quick Summary

During the summer season, Olympic Hiking Co. offers a daily 3:00 PM group trailhead shuttle from the Shi Shi Trailhead to the Ozette and Rialto trailheads for backpackers hiking the North Olympic Wilderness Coast. For hikers doing a beginning of trip shuttle, you need to park at the paid private parking lot just before the trailhead and will need to purchase a Makah Recreation Pass beforehand. For hikers that park at the Ozette trailhead and end their hike at Shi Shi, we can pick you up at the day-use trailhead parking lot and the Makah Pass is not required since your vehicle is not parked on tribal land.

Need a Shi Shi to Rialto Shuttle?

If you would like a shuttle from Rialto Beach to the Shi Shi Beach trailhead, please book the 3:00 PM Shi Shi to Ozette shuttle and select “Add to Cart” for the 4:30 PM Ozette to Rialto shuttle during checkout. There is no charge for the additional shuttle. It helps us manage headcount for the two shuttles. Thank you!

Important Notes

  • Advanced online reservations required, which close 24 hours prior to departure time. No walk-up reservations.

  • The scheduled time slots and availability may vary based on unique bookings each day.

  • We highly recommend passengers to book the trailhead shuttle at the beginning of the trip, as it is much easier to coordinate versus managing an exit date and time.

  • Solo passenger? To cover costs of labor, fuel, and insurance, we require a $150 minimum booking to open a new shuttle reservation. Accordingly, for the first booking for a particular shuttle route, a solo hiker will need to book 2 tickets to start a new reservation. If other passengers join your shuttle, you can email us after the trip and we will refund you the individual ticket. When you finish the online booking, please type in “solo hiker” in the reservation comments, as this is helpful for us in managing headcounts.

Additional Information

This trailhead shuttle provides transportation for backpackers from the Shi Shi Beach Trailhead on the Makah Reservation to the Ozette Ranger Station in Olympic National Park. It is roughly a 1 hour 15 minute drive. Our passenger check-in will be at the Shi Shi Beach trailhead, which is also a day-use parking lot for day hikers. Please note, there is no overnight parking at the Shi Shi Beach Trailhead. If you need to park overnight at Shi Shi, there is private parking approximately one mile from the trailhead across from Tsoo-Yess Beach (typically $10 per night). That being said, if you’re hiking between Shi Shi and Ozette it is recommended to park at the Ozette Ranger Station for your backpacking trip. By parking at Ozette, you can do the 1:30 PM Ozette to Shi Shi trailhead shuttle at the beginning of your trip and hike from Shi Shi to Ozette, or you can do this 3:00 PM Shi Shi to Ozette shuttle at the end of your hiking trip back to your vehicle.

Needing a shuttle from the Shi Shi Trailhead back to Rialto Beach? Start by booking the 3:00 PM Shi Shi to Ozette shuttle and you will have the option to add the 4:30 PM Ozette to Rialto shuttle while booking online at no additional cost for your group.

Olympic Hiking Co. purchases a Makah Recreation permit for all of our tour vehicles. If you’re not parking at the Shi Shi paid private lot or other Makah Tribal lands, you will not need to purchase the permit.
